Puppy socialization is where we have a small group of puppies of similar age combined with positive reinforcement-based training. This activity provides critical socialization time with a variety of people and other puppies, helping the puppies grow into well-adjusted pets. In this setting, a puppy's reward for training is
being able to play with other dogs.
Studies suggest that the ideal time to do this is from 7 weeks to 6 months of age. Your puppy goes through a socialization period that permanently shapes their future personality and how they will react to things in his/her environment as an adult.
The idea behind socialization is helping your puppy become acclimated to all types of sights, sounds, and smells in a positive manner. Proper socialization can prevent a dog from for example of being fearful of children or riding in a car. It will help them develop into a well-mannered and happy companion.
Improper socialization can lead to behavior problems later in life.
Once your puppy has started their initial vaccinations (DHPP & Bordetella), they can attend puppy group. We would also require proof of negative fecal sample from your local vet. Our skilled dog trainer "Susan Ward - Dingogirl" will mediate the meetings so that all dogs and people are safe and happy during the process.
This activity will not only help your puppy begin to understand basic commands, but also help expose them to other dogs and people. Each week we cover a different puppy topic (i.e. chewing, nipping, jumping, etc) followed by a focus cue (look or touch), a bit about house training & crate training etc. The remainder of the time is off leash, so your puppy can learn how to play and owners can learn about their dog’s body language and signals.
Start your puppy off on the right paw with an extraordinary puppyhood experience!
